Vittoriale degli Italiani

The “Vittoriale degli Italiani” is a complex of buildings, streets, squares, an open-air theater, gardens and waterways erected between 1921 and 1938 in Gardone Riviera, on the Brescia side of Lake Garda, by Gabriele d'Annunzio.

The cathedral of Salò is the most important religious building in the city. Dedicated to Santa Maria Annunziata, it holds within it paintings by Romanino, Moretto, Zenone Veronese and Paolo Veneziano. The new construction in the place where the previous church was located was curated by Filippo delle Vacche from Caravaggio, who coherently with his formation, suspended between the Gothic and the Renaissance, built a church of late Gothic style. The facade is unfinished.
